In 2025, we explored the musical foundations of our Hï Ibiza resident DJs in our new written column, The Roots.
Each feature traced the influences behind our favourite DJs; the artists, genres, clubs, and scenes that shaped who they are today. Drawing on interviews and research, we covered overlooked movements, pioneering producers, legendary labels and seminal songs.

The Roots of MËSTIZA
Spanish duo MËSTIZA took over Hï Ibiza for a groundbreaking seven-week residency in 2025. Each week in the Theatre, they brought a carnival of house, melodic techno, and Latin grooves with the raw emotion of flamenco. Their roots include flamenco, Black Coffee, Spanish techno and more.
The Roots of James Hype
James Hype returned to the number one club in the world this year to take things to the next level. At his OUR HOUSE residency, the British DJ debuted his explosive new visual performance, SYNC, and played blistering sets of tech house, pop reworks, and much more. His roots include UK garage, jungle, Adam F and more.
The Roots of The Martinez Brothers
NYC maestros The Martinez Brothers owned Tuesdays at Hï Ibiza this year. The Bros championed all shades of house music at their residency, from tech to Afro, deep to Latin. Their roots include salsa music, Larry Levan, NYC hip hop and more.
The Roots of John Summit
Modern house icon John Summit has two special Experts Only shows this Season. As one of the biggest producers on the planet, the Chicago DJ brought a cast of exciting names with him for two nights at Hï Ibiza. His roots include trance music, Radiohead, Chief Keef and more.
The Roots of Patrick Topping
From underground tech house hero to chart-topping powerhouse, Patrick Topping has firmly carved out his place in dance music over the last decade. At his Wednesday Club Room residency, the British DJ explored the best house, techno and everything in between. His roots include mákina, Hot Creations, 2 Unlimited and more.
